You're invited to join MDC for a webinar, Trauma, Schools,Learning Differences, and Race in 2020 on October 8th, 2020 from 1 -2:30 PM. The webinar will include two brief presentations and a Q&A period discussing the impact of trauma in education with special attention to students with diagnosed or undiagnosed learning differences who are people of color or are from low-income families. This webinar is the first in a three-part webinar series as part of the Learning for Equity: A Network for Solutions -North Carolina (LENS-NC) network.

Sal Terrasi is the Director of the Lesley Institute for Trauma Sensitivity[LIfTS]at Lesley University. LiFTS is a collaboration with the Massachusetts Advocates for Children’s Trauma and Learning Policy Initiative (MAC/TLPI) that works to advance the development of trauma sensitive environments by working with school districts to help educators understand the dynamics of acute and chronic trauma, its adverse effects on learning, and how trauma sensitive schools can benefit all children.
Jason Marshall is an education designer with over 18 years of experience as an educator and a deep knowledge of learning differences. He has extensive experience in a myriad of educational settings including charter and public schools, community-based organizations, national and international non-profits, and mental health organizations. Jason has been engaged in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts throughout his career. He is the Co-Founder of Jackson & Marshall Consulting Group LLC(JMC), an anti-oppression and educational equity consulting firm that is purposed to guide communities andorganizations in bringing ideas of positive systemic change to fruition. His strengths include fostering critical examinations of power, systems of oppression, and institutional culture, purposeful communication, and
intelligible action plans for creatingenvironments grounded in principles of equity and justice. In this role, he has provided education consulting services to organizations such as but not limited to: The Oak Foundation, Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST), Root Cause Consulting Group and Kids Rethink New Orleans Schools.Jason is also the SocialEmotional Content Manager for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and holds a MS in Student Development in Higher Education from Central Connecticut State University and a BS in Early Childhood Development from the University of Minnesota.
